Policy Research, Editorial and Knowledge Products Consultant

About the role

The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is seeking a consultant to support its Computational Economics Team. The role focuses on turning analytical work, country engagements and evidence into high‑quality knowledge products for policymakers and practitioners.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct desk research and gather evidence on economic, social and public‑policy issues relevant to the team’s work.
• Design and carry out interviews, surveys and other qualitative methods with Member States and stakeholders to capture experiences, feedback and emerging needs.
• Organise, synthesize and document collected evidence for reuse across reports, briefs, digital products and country pages.
• Draft, edit and format knowledge outputs under the guidance of the Computational Economics Team.
• Identify new story ideas, formats and opportunities for knowledge products, increasing independent development as familiarity grows.

Required profile

• Strong research and analytical background, preferably in economics, social policy or related fields.
• Excellent written communication skills with the ability to translate complex analysis into clear, accessible language.
• Experience conducting interviews, surveys or other evidence‑gathering activities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks within a six‑month remote assignment.
