National Consultant – Psychiatrist for Sentence Reduction Commission

About the role

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) seeks two national consultants who are medical doctors specialized in psychiatry. The consultants will support Lebanon's Commission of Reduction of Sentences by providing psychiatric assessments of inmates whose cases are under review for sentence reduction.

Key responsibilities

• Review prisoners' files from a medical and psychiatric perspective.
• Conduct on‑site psychiatric evaluations in prisons as required.
• Draft scientific reports and medical opinions to inform the Commission's decisions.
• Attend meetings at the Commission’s headquarters and coordinate with sub‑commissions across governorates.
• Ensure assessments are completed within the stipulated five working days per month.

Required profile

• Medical Doctor with a specialization in psychiatry, licensed to practice in Lebanon.
• Experience in forensic or prison psychiatry is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and travel to multiple locations.
• Strong written communication skills for report preparation.
