Advocacy Officer

About the role

The Advocacy Officer will turn BADIL’s research, analysis and journalism into sustained influence on policy and political debate in Lebanon and the wider region. Reporting to the Managing Editor and BADIL Directors, the role combines strategy design, relationship building with decision‑makers and public representation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, lead and regularly update BADIL’s advocacy strategy, setting clear policy objectives, target audiences and success metrics.
• Build and maintain direct working relationships with parliamentarians, ministries, political parties, diplomatic missions and international organisations, translating analysis into policy memos, briefing notes and advocacy products in English and Arabic.
• Develop and lead partnerships and coalitions with Lebanese civil‑society organisations, research institutions and media partners around shared reform objectives.
• Represent BADIL in media appearances, panels, conferences and public forums, and work with communications teams to design public campaigns that connect policy asks to wider audiences.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of professional experience working on Lebanese politics and policy, with a detailed knowledge of political institutions and legislative processes.
• Established network among Lebanese decision‑makers and media, and a proven track record of influencing legislation, policy or public debate.
• Full professional fluency in Arabic and English, with experience representing an organisation in high‑level meetings and media.
• Master’s degree in political science, law, public policy, international relations or equivalent professional experience.
