Accounting & Auditing Consultant (Abidjan)

About the role

The Chief Accountant / Auditor will lead the structuring, review, and continuous improvement of client accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and reliable financial reporting. Based in Abidjan, the role requires relocation and close collaboration with client teams to embed sustainable accounting practices.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee accounting structuring and review engagements for client entities.
• Design and implement accounting frameworks, chart of accounts, policies, procedures, and internal controls aligned with best practices.
• Conduct periodic accounting reviews to validate records, identify gaps, and ensure proper transaction classification.
• Assess and improve existing accounting processes, systems, and control environments.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax requirements, and statutory regulations.
• Support clients in setting up and optimizing accounting systems and reporting structures.
• Provide financial visibility through structured reports, reconciliations, and executive summaries.
• Advise management on accounting implications of business decisions.
• Supervise, mentor, and train client accounting staff to ensure sustainable adoption of best practices.
• Contribute to the development and standardisation of firm‑wide accounting methodologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA, ACCA or equivalent preferred.
• 7–10 years of progressive experience in accounting and auditing, with proven leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, auditing standards, financial regulations and compliance.
• Experience managing audit engagements and delivering financial advisory services.
