Solid Waste Management Junior Specialist

About the role

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) seeks a Junior Specialist to support solid waste management activities in Aabbassiyeh, South Lebanon. This short‑term national consultancy will involve field visits to the municipal sorting facility and related sites, helping the municipality address increasing waste generation and improve recycling rates.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct on‑site visits to the sorting facility and other waste‑related locations.
• Assist in collecting and documenting data on daily waste volumes, composition and recycling participation.
• Support the preparation of brief reports summarising findings and recommending operational improvements.
• Liaise with municipal officials and community representatives to gather contextual information.

Required profile

• Lebanese national with the ability to work in South Lebanon.
• Junior‑level experience or academic background in environmental science, waste management or related fields.
• Good communication skills in English; Arabic is a plus.
