Senior Project Management and Strategic Consultant for International Humanitarian Law

About the role

The UNDP is seeking a senior consultant to support the National Committee on International Humanitarian Law (NCIHL) in Lebanon. The role involves providing strategic, technical and programme‑management assistance to ensure effective implementation of the Committee’s mandate and work plan.

Key responsibilities

• Support planning, monitoring and follow‑up of the NCIHL work plan and priority activities, ensuring timely execution and coordination among stakeholders.
• Provide strategic and technical advice on institutional strengthening, programme priorities, partnerships and operational requirements.
• Develop and maintain activity schedules, tracking tools and follow‑up mechanisms for programme delivery.
• Coordinate relationships with governmental institutions, international organisations, humanitarian actors, development partners, academia and professional associations.
• Assist the Chairperson and Committee members in preparing, coordinating and following up strategic meetings, consultations and high‑level engagements.
• Draft, review and quality‑assure reports, concept notes, briefing notes, presentations, official correspondence and other institutional documents.
• Provide periodic technical and strategic inputs to NCIHL activities, policy discussions and partnership engagements.
• Ensure follow‑up on decisions, recommendations and action points from meetings, workshops and conferences.
• Oversee work of experts, trainers, consultants and support staff to ensure coherence, quality and timely delivery of outputs.
• Facilitate information‑sharing and collaboration among project personnel and stakeholders.
• Identify implementation challenges, operational needs and capacity gaps, offering practical recommendations.
• Monitor implementation progress and maintain records of activities, stakeholder engagements and programme achievements.
