Mental Health and Protection Coordinator

About the role

The Union of Medical Care and Relief Organizations (UOSSM USA) seeks an experienced Mental Health and Protection Coordinator to lead and ensure the quality of its MHPSS and protection portfolio in Lebanon and the wider region. The role combines strategic oversight, technical guidance, and capacity‑building for both direct programmes and partner‑led activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and oversight for MHPSS and protection programmes, ensuring they are rights‑based, inclusive, evidence‑informed and aligned with national policies and donor requirements.
• Develop, review and strengthen strategies, SOPs, tools, referral pathways and implementation standards, integrating safeguarding, PSEA, gender, disability and do‑no‑harm principles.
• Support country teams and partners with needs assessments, programme design, proposal development, case management, monitoring, quality assurance and reporting.
• Conduct capacity‑strengthening trainings, coaching and mentorship on MHPSS, child protection, safeguarding, PSEA and survivor‑centred approaches.
• Carry out technical quality assessments, field monitoring visits, case file reviews and program audits, and follow up on corrective action plans.
• Strengthen referral mechanisms and linkages with health, protection, GBV, disability and government services, ensuring confidentiality and informed consent.
• Represent UOSSM USA in coordination meetings with MoPH, UN agencies, clusters and sector working groups, monitoring standards and emerging needs.
• Contribute technical inputs to proposals, budgets and resource mobilisation, identifying priorities and opportunities for programme expansion.
