Health, Safety & Environment Officer – Building Renovation (Beirut)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Health, Safety, Environment and Security (HSE) Officer to support a building renovation project in Beirut. The role involves ensuring occupational health and safety, environmental protection, site security and regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor the project HSE plan, procedures, policies and emergency‑response arrangements.
• Conduct regular site inspections, safety walks, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Identify hazards, assess risks and ensure control measures are in place before work starts.
• Supervise safety controls for vertical construction activities such as work at height, scaffolding, demolition and lifting operations.
• Monitor environmental aspects including dust, noise, waste handling and hazardous material management.
• Manage site security, access control and emergency preparedness, including drills and response procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
• 5–10 years of HSE experience on vertical construction or building renovation projects.
• Relevant HSE certification (NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, ISO 45001 or equivalent) verified against Lebanese requirements.
• Valid work‑at‑height and fall‑protection training; first‑aid and fire‑safety training preferred.

Required skills

• NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA or ISO 45001 certification.
• Work‑at‑height safety and fall‑protection certification.
• Scaffolding inspection, lifting operations and confined‑space qualifications.
• Permit‑to‑work system knowledge and environmental management competence.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and digital HSE reporting tools.
