Defense Reporter

About the role

Tactical Report is seeking an experienced Defense Reporter to cover the defence and armaments sector across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The role involves investigative reporting, breaking exclusive stories and delivering accurate, objective analysis for a readership that includes government officials and decision‑makers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a reliable network of sources close to decision‑makers in the defence sector.
• Identify, investigate and break exclusive stories for advisory publications.
• Verify all information against rigorous standards before editorial hand‑over.
• Collaborate with editors and researchers to select topics, sources and treatment.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of reporting experience covering defence and armaments in the MENA region.
• Ability to distinguish routine developments from significant events.
• Specialisation in at least one defence domain (land, sea, air) or one MENA country.
• Proven capability to engage lawfully with decision‑making circles.
• Strong understanding of geopolitical affairs, economic and fiscal policy.
• Fluency in Arabic or English; additional language a plus.
