Communications and Outreach Consultant for International Humanitarian Law

About the role

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking a Communications and Outreach Consultant to support Lebanon's National Committee on International Humanitarian Law (NCIHL). The consultant will enhance the visibility of the Committee’s work, engage stakeholders, and promote public awareness of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) over a six‑month period.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop and implement communication, outreach and awareness‑raising activities aligned with the NCIHL work plan.
• Draft, edit and disseminate news articles, press releases, success stories, newsletters, speeches and other communication products.
• Manage and update social‑media channels and other communication platforms to promote events, achievements and key messages.
• Coordinate media coverage for meetings, workshops, training programmes and public events, ensuring timely dissemination of outcomes.
• Liaise with media outlets, graphic designers, photographers, videographers and printing services as needed.
• Document activities, lessons learned and success stories through written, visual and digital formats.
• Prepare monthly reports summarising communication outputs, outreach impact and days worked.

Required profile

• Qualified professional with experience in communications, public outreach and media relations, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Ability to work under the guidance of UNDP technical advisors and coordinate closely with the NCIHL.

Required skills

• Developing and editing communication materials such as press releases, newsletters and briefing notes.
• Managing social‑media content and digital communication channels.
• Coordinating media engagement and organizing visibility activities for events.
