Part-Time History Faculty Position

About the role

The Lebanese American University’s School of Arts and Sciences seeks a part‑time faculty member to teach History courses within the Department of Liberal Studies. The courses target undergraduate students across the university and focus on primary source analysis, key historical moments in the Middle East and Lebanon, and the broader global context.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate History lectures and seminars on Lebanese, Middle Eastern, and world history.
• Design and facilitate class activities that encourage primary‑source interrogation and critical thinking.
• Assess student work, provide feedback, and support development of historical writing skills.
• Incorporate innovative teaching methods and integrate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals where relevant.
• Utilize the Blackboard learning management system for course materials and communication.

Required profile

• Master’s or Doctoral degree in History or a related field, preferably with a focus on Middle East or Lebanese history.
• At least two years of undergraduate teaching experience.
• Demonstrated use of innovative teaching approaches with non‑specialist audiences.
• Strong written and oral English communication skills.
• Good organizational abilities and capacity to work collaboratively.
• Understanding of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
